Marriage where to?

The number of marriages slumped to their lowest level all arround the world especially in Europe.

Marriage is completely out of date, as is religion. People don’t require an expensive piece of paper in order to be in loving, long-term relationships and successfully raise children. Religion is on the decline, therefore it follows that marriage should be too. Couples quite often marry when the children come along to give them stability. The trend now is to live together, go on holiday, buy a plasma TV, get that car. You can do all this and more with the money you’d have paid out for a big lavish wedding, today’s youngsters have experienced parents splitting up in much greater numbers and I think are more wary of commitment. Marriage to many is just a piece of paper with no religious significance!

Marriage shows love and commitment to each other. People still need stability and marriage provides this. I believe marriage will survive.

Last year was financially difficult for everyone, so many couples have delayed their marriage. It’s sad an awful lot of people think it necessary to have a house full of the latest furniture and gadgets before getting married. Our silly benefits system is encouraging many couples to stay single as they can claim individually and get more cash from the Government. Marriage hasn't the same meaning it had years ago. The number of women seeking careers has risen and therefore marriage is not an attractive option, many are not prepared to work at their relationship and find the grass is greener on the other side.
